To ALL:
This is a response to the
information you rec'd yesterday re:
questions/answers from Commissioner
Hasenauer to Tom Mason, director of the MPO.
It is
very informative and
deserves discussion and possible action to "streamline' the constitutional process that, as
evidenced by last night's city council meeting, was disgustingly dismissed in
a frantic push to bring back-door amendments to a vote without ANY review or
participation in the process by EITHER the two 'councils of the whole' OR We the
People!
We can be disgusted or we can be
involved individually and collectively; I say let's continue and build a strong
team of resistance to the anti-constituent mentality that exists AND WHICH WE
HAVE EACH WITNESSED at the planning, city, county and MPO
level.
What do you think? We were TOLD
last night that we could only offer amendments next week (10th) if "sponsored
by
a council member, and that it was
not OPEN FOR PUBLIC COMMENT. When a constitutional challenge was
made
to this, Council chair Dr. Rinne's
bold declaration, he
came back with a weak "this is the
way it's always been done."
That's the mentality we're dealing
with. We are IRRELEVANT.
Our exposure to this mindset at
each and every meeting proves just that...we don't matter, their agenda is
center stage; ours is simply to conform--and to conform nicely--to Roberts' Rule
of Order.
Anyway, on to Tim Bieligk's
insightful analysis of the power structure of the MPO...Thanks and please, share
your thoughts because this is YOUR forum ~~~~~Betty
